One of the biggest obstacles to sketching with confidence is our ability to control our pen or pencil. No matter how many tutorials we follow, and how well we understand concepts such as perspective or line-weight, if we don't have good control over our pen or pencil, we will not be able to sketch with confidence.
Developing this control is an area that is very much neglected.
We often conclude that we'll never reach our sketching goals because we weren't born with the inbuilt ability to sketch. Well, sketching is a skill that is learned, it's not something we're born with.
If it's time to invest in sketching with confidence, then it's time to learn a few things about your biomechanics that will underpin your sketching journey. Ignoring the fundamental mechanics of design sketching is leaving your future sketching confidence to chance.
Invest in yourself and in your future by giving yourself the foundation that will underpin all your future sketching skills.
who is this course for?
This course is for you, regardless of where you are on your sketching journey - beginner, design student or design professional.
This course is for you if:
- you are starting your sketching journey, and wanting the very best of foundations.
- you are a design student wanting to go on and build your communication skills, and ability to ideate and problem solve on paper.
- you are a practicing designer, and not as confident in your sketching as you would like to be.
This course is for you if you have been wondering if some people are born with the ability to sketch, and that you might be one of the unlucky ones!
If you think you might be lacking in control over your pen or pencil, then I would urge you to give this course a go.
from a recent student:
Dear Chris,
I recently bought the Fundamental Mechanics of Design Sketching course as a means of improving my urban sketching. I have to say that the course is excellent and has really improved my confidence and ability when drawing. My lines are cleaner and more fluid and a great deal of my fear of filling a blank page has disappeared.
All the videos are high quality and your descriptions and demonstrations of each element are clear. The value of the course is in actually doing the exercises right from the beginning.
It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that understanding the principle is enough - it isn't. I also found great benefit in reviewing the videos again. Invariably I would find an additional subtlety that I'd missed in the first viewing. I've incorporated your fundamentals into a daily practice routine which only takes a few minutes and is a great warm-up.
I highly recommend your course to anyone that wants to improve their sketching, the fundamentals aren't just for designers!
Please feel free to use the above for marketing.
Kind regards,
Barry
